Project Title: Improve Your Resource Efficiency (IYRE) Programme
Client: Advantage West Midlands
Description: The IYRE programme provides specialist resource efficiency support to businesses in the region, including 1-2-1, specialist, onsite support for businesses, which results in the business having a one day assessment incorporating energy, waste, water, materials, processes and design, and receiving a action plan to stimulate implementation.


Project Title: Electrical Energy Survey
Client: Barkley Plastics
Description: Following on from the IYRE (Improve Your Resource Efficiency) service and report through Business Link West Midlands, Pro Enviro undertook a detailed review of Barkley Plastics electrical energy usage in order to determine the most suitable methodologies to significantly reduce annual electrical energy consumption.


Project Title: Energy Efficiency
Client: Brockhouse
Description: Pro Enviro used a system of analysis to produce gas profiles in a standard format which was already used for electrical energy consumption monitoring by Brockhouse. This type of gas consumption footprint is invaluable in determining the pattern of consumption by individual items of plant so that efficiency improvements can be quantified and properly monitored.
Project Title: Strategic Business Planning
Client: Brockhouse
Description: Exposure to ever changing resource costs; mainly energy, water, metals and chemical products, means significant business risk to companies within energy intensive sectors. Within the hot forging sector energy costs are typically 5 to 10% of turnover so that a rise in energy cost will have a significant impact upon profitability. The only viable option is to progressively reduce resource use as a function of production in an attempt to reduce production costs are at the very least to maintain costs at the current level.


Project Title: Business Link Resource Efficiency Capacity Building and Training Programme
Client: Business Link East
Description: Design and delivery of a training and capacity building programme for the Business Link East Advisors in the purpose and use of the 'Green Review'. This tool is a simple diagnostic process aimed at supporting the advisors to identify resource efficiency issues and opportunities within client businesses.


Project Title: Skills for a Low Carbon and Resource Efficient Economy
Client: Defra
Description: A wide ranging high-level review of the current and relevant evidence relating to the skills implications of the transition to a low carbon and resource efficient economy (LCREE).


Project Title: Capacity Building of Business Link Advisors
Client: East Midlands Development Agency
Description: Developed four training packages to equip business support providers and managers with a basic understanding of resource efficiency issues in order to be able to appropriately diagnose basic resource efficiency requirements within a variety of business contexts. The materials were delivered in a blended approach including web-based virtual learning.
Project Title: East Midlands Energy Technology Sector Research
Client: East Midlands Development Agency
Description: Pro Enviro was commissioned to conduct high-level research into the characteristics and landscape of providers in the East Midlands energy technologies sector, establish the main players in the region and map the location of regional energy sector companies.
Project Title: Energy Connections Pilot Programme
Client: East Midlands Development Agency
Description: As the Regional Development Agency, emda is charged with ensuring a sustainable business base for the region to ensure future prosperity. The energy sector is seen as an important sector for the region’s future and emda is striving to find ways to bring tangible benefits to the sector and help the sector reach a position where it can survive and thrive within a low carbon economy. Through the provision of a range of business-to-business and business-to-academia services, this programme played a key part in achieving those aims.
Project Title: Evaluation of the Competency of Resource Efficiency Solutions Providers
Client: East Midlands Development Agency
Description: Evaluation of 100+ solutions providers to determine initial level of quality assurance in support of the RBSIS scoring system. The evaluations took the form of structured interviews and a review of recent projects.
Project Title: Grant Management and Developmental Support for Skills Provision in Energy Technologies
Client: East Midlands Development Agency
Description: Through this programme emda sought to provide successful applicant colleges with money to buy capital energy technology equipment – thus ensuring colleges have the right equipment to teach new energy courses. This supports the development and accreditation of new energy qualifications which regional FE colleges will be able to offer their students – leading to increased provision of training in the region and up-skilling of the regional workforce.

Project Title: Resource Efficiency Diagnostic Tool
Client: East Midlands Development Agency
Description: Developed a system that allows local authorities and other approved users to get the idea of possible resource efficiency issues in companies through an automated diagnostic system. The system presents a number of initial questions and then begins to branch to ask further, more relevant questions based on the previous answers.


Project Title: Development and Review of Existing SME Self-Help Environmental Management Tools
Client: East of England Development Agency
Description: Developed a Regional Environmental Management Tool (REMT) which enables the review of environmental impacts, resource use, and comparison against benchmarks, indicating areas for improvement and generating suggested action plans.


Project Title: Household Energy Efficiency Skills
Client: Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes
Description: Identifying opportunities for improving the effectiveness of the household energy-efficiency skills delivery system.


Project Title: Resource Efficiency Consultancy
Client: Metafin Group
Description: Pro Enviro measured resource consumption throughout the various processes to develop a process optimisation plan based on rationalising resource consumption. Typically savings of 10% or greater are identified during this type of exercise, equating in this case to around £60,000 per annum.


Project Title: ISO 14001 Gap Analysis
Client: Newham College
Description: Pro Enviro undertook a review to enable an understanding of the current systems for environmental management at the college and the level of awareness and understanding of environmental issues possessed by college personnel. A number of methods were employed in order to carry out the initial environmental review (IER).


Project Title: Carbon Review
Client: Resource Efficiency East
Description: Provided intensive one-to-one support to regional business on resource efficiency. Achieved by undertaking a carbon review to identify, evaluate and quantify the carbon savings, associated with a more efficiency use of materials, energy and water by the business.


Project Title: Sustainable Development Centre
Client: Rodbaston College
Description: A centre would be built on the acknowledged strengths of the college, including the successful Sustainable Agenda for Further Education project; the land based rural experience and would be housed in a site that offers a wide variety of successful sustainable development projects that provide real life demonstrators set within a bio-diverse location.


Project Title: Resource Efficiency & Environmental Diagnostic Tool
Client: Welsh Assembly Government
Description: The project was designed to produce a resource efficiency diagnostic/review tool to support the region's Business Advisor community and SMEs by increasing their capacity and enabling them to effectively review and address resource efficiency issues within the businesses and broker suitable further support.

Client: Yorkshire Forward
Description: Yorkshire Forward is committed to building a low carbon economy (LCE) and placing the region at the forefront of gaining benefits in terms of jobs and economic opportunities, while contributing to regional environmental improvements and the global challenge of climate change. Over the next few decades, this will require the transformation of the region’s economy, workforce and skills.
