Allows local authorities and other approved users to get the idea of possible resource efficiency issues in companies through an automated diagnostic system.

We developed a system for the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) that allows local authorities and other approved users to develop a useful perspective of possible resource efficiency issues in companies through an automated diagnostic system. The system presents a number of initial questions and then begins to branch to ask further, more relevant questions based on the previous answers.

The Diagnostic Tool presents the user with a series of simple questions designed to collect key business data, and then begins to branch to ask further, more relevant questions based on the previous answers.  The captured data is used to generate a report highlighting business areas where improvements could be made. This enables Business Support Advisors to quickly identify key areas of potential resource efficiency improvement within a client business.  The system also allows assessment of impact and potential long term benefits resulting from its use, and helps the advisor to uncover a client’s latent business needs and opportunities in the fast growing Low Carbon and Resource Efficient Economy.

It is essential that the process does not seem off-putting to busy managers, so the efficient use of the client’s time is critical.  The built-in logic ensures that the questions presented are the most appropriate to that business, and the overall process (from question 1 through to preparation of the diagnostic report) typically takes no more than 15 minutes to complete.  The captured data is permanently stored, to allow comparison with future diagnostics and ad-hoc reporting.  The report displays the results from the current and a previous diagnostic (if any have been conducted for that company) side-by-side for comparison and clearly indicates any changes in performance.

Pro Enviro provides support for the application at two levels;

  • User Support – Support is available from Pro Enviro to users of the system by email or phone. Our support team can help users with password reset or other login issues as well as queries regarding the diagnostic questions and the summary report.
  • System Support – Our technical team at Pro Enviro are also available to provide system and user administration guidance and support directly to staff members responsible for hosting and management of the system and servers. This could include creation and setup of user login accounts, database maintenance, adjustments or minor changes to the questions/responses, the thresholds and the logic/rules which govern the analysis and reporting.
