Design & Development For The Environment

  • Do you need to do more to address your customers’ environmental concerns?

  • Could you reduce waste at source through improving your product design for the environment, saving resources and money?

  • Are you overlooking any End-of-Life Vehicles legislation requirements?

AutoTrain CoDesign is improving the Design and Development Capabilities of SME Automotive Suppliers in the West Midlands. Linked to the Accelerate Programme and funded through a European Social Fund Objective 3 grant, CoDesign offers a free programme in Design & Development for the Environment.

Eligible SMEs participate in the programme through a network delivered for CoDesign by Pro Enviro Ltd - why not find out more at the next AutoTrain workshop?

"CoDesign for the Environment" Workshop - details and booking form linked here.

Wed 29 June, 08:30 – 12:30, Austin Court, Birmingham

The workshop, free for eligible SMEs;

  • provides supply chain managers in large companies and managers & directors of SMEs with sufficient understanding of Design for Environment issues to have a productive dialogue with their key customers and suppliers, and,
  • introduces the "Design and Development for the Environment" programme.

What are the Benefits?

This CoDesign programme can prime your capability in;

  • Responding to automotive customers' environmental concerns,
  • Achieving potential savings from waste minimisation & resource efficiency, and,
  • Future proofing against legislation such as the ELV Directive.

Environmental pressure and the End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive now require that automotive companies apply further controls in selecting materials and design components for disassembly, reuse and recycling. Product specifications and manufacturing are changing, with suppliers needing to supply relevant information to their customers.

Companies wishing to remain within the automotive supply chain are committing to reduce environmental impacts to run alongside the traditional QCD performance measures.

CoDesign support includes introductory training, development workshops, online training materials and checklists - to suit both customers and suppliers, working in collaboration.

Please visit the "Design and Development for the Environment" portal for further information.

If you would like to discuss how the CoDesign programme could help you, please contact Steve Stones via email.
