Energy efficiency pledge for Welsh homes

Homes in Wales are to benefit from up to £34 million in funding from Europe, allocated to them to boost energy efficiency.
The investment will go towards homes that have already been constructed, rather than to those in the planning stages, and will help households reduce their carbon emissions and cut down on fuel bills.
The latest round of funding will be aimed at some of the more deprived areas of Wales and will help people on low incomes contribute to the country's low carbon goals.
According to the Welsh Assembly Government, the funding will help the country reach its target of cutting down emissions by three percent a year from 2011.
Ieuan Wyn Jones, the deputy first minister of Wales, said: "Making homes more energy efficient is a key part in our ambitions to reduce Wales' carbon footprint."
He added: "Domestic energy efficiency is a growing industry and we have the opportunity to position Wales at its forefront through this investment."
