Invitation to help to tackle waste

January 26, 2009

The Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) is to bring together a Working Group on Waste in London next month.

Following on from the successful waste round table it held last year, CIRIA said that this group will include key representatives from industry and delivery bodies to give a clear, practical overview on the waste issues important to members.

The aim is not to replicate the work being undertaken by other groups, it emphasised, but to provide a mechanism to link members with, and raise their awareness of, the different initiatives now underway.

Speakers will include key figures from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Environment Agency, the Waste and Resource Action Programme, the Strategic Forum and the Construction Waste and Resources Platform.

The event is intended to give senior representatives from across the construction industry the opportunity to receive a clear, concise update from the key delivery bodies on the state of play in construction waste.

It will also provide an opportunity to provide direct input into the development of CIRIA's Signposting guide to key waste resources and organisations.

Anyone interested in attending the meeting, to be held on 18 February 2009, is invited to e-mail Susan Steensma at E-mail: susan.steensma@ciria.org for further details. She can also be contacted at CIRIA on 020 7549 3300.
