The Environment Agency is re-advertising and re-opening the consultation concerning the application for a permit for the proposed Newhaven Incinerator. This will give the local community a further opportunity to comment on the Agency's draft decision.
The original newspaper advert which drew attention to the consultation contained a minor omission. Hence, the Agency's decision to re-open the consultation will give anybody who wishes to respond, but who missed the chance to do so previously, the opportunity to give their opinions.
So far, the consultation on the Newhaven Incinerator has attracted approximately 800 responses. The public will now have an additional 20 working days from the publication of the notice in which to make their representations to the Environment Agency.
The proposed permit for Veolia ES South Downs Ltd, and the decision document that sets out the permit conditions and the way in which the Environment Agency arrived at its decision can be found at the Environment Agency office in Chatsworth Road, Worthing, as well as Newhaven Library and the offices of Lewes District Council.
