A group of Yorkshire academics, lawyers and management consultants is joining forces in Leeds to create an international centre of excellence in carbon issues.
The joint launch of CarbonReady and the International Centre for Legal Compliance takes place tomorrow at 3 Albion Place, the new home of the Institute of Directors in Leeds. Together, the two new organisations will be targeting the Indian and Chinese markets and tomorrow's launch will be supported by Sharon Bamford, chief executive of the UK India Business Council, and Zou Qun, the Consulate General of China.
The Leeds-based organisations will offer expertise in carbon issues such as carbon capture storage and carbon mapping together with other environmental and regulatory issues.
Carbon Ready is an independent consultancy will offer business expertise on a broad range of topics required to address climate change and carbon management with a view to maximising business opportunities in the move to a low-carbon economy.
ICLC is a research group established by William Ho, partner at Leeds solicitors Burton Burton and Ho, and barrister Jeremy Barnett, head of regulatory breach at St Paul's Chambers, Leeds. Legal advice and services will be offered by the newly formed CarbonReady Legal, a division of BBH.
Sharon Bamford said: "We seek out companies that are at the forefront of providing clean technology solutions."
