UK must lead on climate - Blair

The UK must show "leadership" on the environment if countries such as China, India and Brazil are to reduce their carbon emissions, Tony Blair has said.
The prime minister said businesses, government and the public had to "step up to the mark and do something".
Mr Blair's comments came as he met the bosses of eight of Britain's biggest firms, and ahead of a meeting of 13 of the world's biggest countries in June.

'Crucial'
Environment Secretary David Miliband, also attending a meeting with Mr Blair and business leaders in London, said: "2007 is going to be an absolutely crucial year for the battle against climate change."
Mr Blair said: "The government will continue to give a lead in tackling climate change, both at home and internationally, to reduce emissions globally."
Mr Blair said a meeting of the G8 group of major economies - plus Brazil, South Africa, India, China and Mexico - in June would be vital.
These countries accounted for 70% of global carbon dioxide emissions, he added.
Mr Blair and Mr Miliband were attending the launch of the Climate Group's We're In This Together campaign to bring businesses, government and communities together to provides ideas for reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Eight major businesses, including Marks and Spencer, Tesco, BSkyB and B&Q, set out steps they are taking.
