Unhappy workers 'blame managers'

Employees want their managers to do more to help them, says a study.
Nearly half of the 1,700 adults asked in a YouGov survey accused their bosses of not giving them enough support.
Fewer than half of employees were satisfied with their career progression but managers were more upbeat and many saw no obstacles to their progress.
The government-funded organisation Investors in People, which commissioned the survey, said the findings should concern employers across the country.
Ruth Spellman, chief executive of Investors in People, said: "This research exposes managers who are failing to help employees reach their full potential.
"While happy with the progression of their own careers, many seemed to pay lip service to the development of those around them.
"Keeping employees involved, motivated and productive is a vital part of any managerial role."
The study found that one of the main problems for employees was the lack of opportunity to progress within a company.
But 49% of workers questioned said they were happy with their careers.
