Baroness Barbara Young Set to Open ET 2005

April 5, 2005

Baroness Barbara Young, Chief Executive of the Environment Agency, has been confirmed to declare ET 2005 officially open.

On Tuesday 24 May, Baroness Young will address both private and public sectors as the NEC plays host to the ET, the UK's largest exhibition dedicated to environmental technology and management services.

With an impressive history spanning 15 years, ET 2005 delivers the cutting edge solutions to meet environmental obligations across many industries. As Baroness Young explains, "The global market for environmental goods and services has developed hugely in recent years, and the UK market is a key leader in this field. Our environmental industry is strong and growing, with an estimated annual turnover of £25 billion. We have never been in a better position to lead on environmental innovation."

2005 sees the UK in a unique position. G8 and EU presidencies offer the opportunity to demonstrate the UK's commitment to environmental issues and put them at the heart of international debate. "As environmental considerations become more mainstream and sustainable development is adopted by governments around the world, it's apparent that the winners in modern business are those who lead in innovation and for whom environmental responsibilities are an integral part of their business strategy. This is why any company visiting ET 2005 stands to benefit from the unrivalled expertise available at the show," says Baroness Young.
