Consultation on public participation and IPPC

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has launched a consultation on draft regulations to transpose amendments to the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Directive (96/61/EC) made by the Public Participation Directive (2003/35/EC).
In this regard DEFRA has published the proposed draft Pollution Prevention and Control (Public Participation) (England and Wales) Regulations 2005 in order to develop the public participation and access to justice provisions as required by the Public Participation Directive.
The regulations will amend certain provisions (nearly all in schedules 4 and 7) of the Pollution Prevention and Control (England and Wales) Regulations 2000 for the purpose of transposing amendments to the IPPC Directive made by the Public Participation Directive.
The closing date for responses is 27 April 2005.
