New Employment
Following the announcement of the closure of a manufacturing plant, Pro Enviro were asked to design and deliver a series of workshops to assist the workforce in their quest for new employment. In order to do this we developed a set of sessions designed to prepare the operators and junior managers for the task of finding new roles.
While there are many such schemes for senior managers, this approach and support is much less common at the operator level. Working closely with the client, a set of aids was developed to support the employees through these difficult times. Many of the people involved had been with the company for many years and had little experience of working in other companies or the current job market.
The process consisted of a series of group and one to one workshops on how to develop an effective CV and prepare for an interview. The process is also designed to rebuild the individuals' self-confidence and reduce the stress associated with searching for new employment. Ongoing support and mentoring is provided to those that require it after completion of the programme.
All participants finished with a completed and comprehensive CV as well as renewed confidence in their own abilities. Within four weeks of completing the process 70% of the participants had found new employment.
The whole process takes between four and six weeks and because of its modular nature it can be undertaken with minimal disruption during the working day. During the process we worked closely with the local Employment Services.
